27th Sep Week 04 News Games Development

Thank you to everyone who showed up to our first meeting. It was really nice to have you show up and show your support for the Society. I hope everyone else is doing well and hopefully we will see ye there this week.

Quick info and question. We are in KBG (Kemmy Business School building, Ground Floor, Room 14) our meetings run from 18:30 until 19:30. I was told that some people have another meeting at 19:00 and hence they couldn't go. Since we have the room from 18:00 would ye like us to switch theng time from 18:30 to 18:00? This way the meeting would end at around 18:50-19:00 and nobody would need to worry about having to leave early or miss any of their meetings.

For those who missed last weeks meeting. The main thing was game of the month. October's game of the month is Silent Hill 2. Since it is a PS2 game there is a link in our Discord to an emulator or you can watch a playthrough on YouTube. This week will be an AGM, essentially we will be voting in new committee members, all the roles are available so if you would like to part take in the society as committee member there is your chance. Any member is able to put themselves forward for any role.

26th Sep MBUL Annual General Meeting Mountain Bike

Join us Wednesday week 5 at 8pm after the campus spin for our AGM (Annual General Meeting). You can find out more about the club, give suggestions on how it's run and meet fellow members while feasting over pizza and other goodies!

The main topic that will be covered is electing a new committee. The committee is the back bone of the club. They organise the weekly activities and ensure the bikes are running smoothly. They plan all the amazing trips we go on - from Wicklow to Wales and even the Alps! You get to have a say on whether we camp in a field or stay in a 20 bed chalet, right beside the trails! The committee also helps organise first aid courses, training courses and the fun stuff - pizza nights and nights out.

No small tasks, but there's plenty of support available, and adding a committee position to your CV definitely gives you something to talk about in interviews. All committee hours are also valid for the President's Volunteer Award - another great addition to the CV.

Give it a try! Available committee positions include Captain, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, Health and Safety Officer, Equipment Officer and Trips Officer. All pretty self-explanatory, but more info will be on Instagram and in emails leading up to the AGM.

14th Sep UL PBP MEMBER UPDATE People Before Profit Society

Tomorrow at  6PM  UL PBP will be holding it's first event of the semester in KBG10 at 6PM! Member Ciarán Mac Aodha Bhuí will be delivering a talk outlining the ABCs of Ecosocialism, what we stand for, and how students can fight back against the interlocking crises of capitalism and ecological collapse. All welcome!

  • Registration for the year 22/23 is now open.Current members can renew their membership of UL PBP on Wolves or with the following link:

  • The housing crisis is doing immense damage to the lives of students and workers. PBP representatives are challenging the government everyday about what has become a humanitarian crisis and Limerick and UL PBP are committed to building a radical housing movement locally. Too many of us are suffering as a result of government failure to provide public and affordable housing and the status quo cannot be allowed to continue. UL PBP urges anyone experiencing issues with a landlord to get in touch with and to join the Limerick branch of the Community Action Tenants Union (CATU).

  • We're seeing living costs shoot through the roof over the last year with the prices of electricity and gas doubling, rent up by a tenth and food up by 5%. People Before Profit has been at the forefront in the Dáil pushing for price caps on energy and rent reductions, but the government has no interest in these measures that will affect company profits. It's clear we need a movement like against the water charges to force prices down and wages up. PBP UL intends to play a role in making this movement happen.

6th Sep Info for Registration GAA Club

Welcome UL GAA Members!

Welcome to UL GAA! We had 1,200 members last year and more than 18 teams. We hope to increase that number this year.

How do I join?

Register online on and select GAA. Fill in the details and pay your €25 registration fee. Make sure you opt in to receiving emails from the GAA club, as this is how we will contact you about trials, trainings etc, at least until you are selected for a team.

I don’t know what team/trial I am supposed to go to

I send a weekly email (usually Friday evenings) that informs all members of the schedule for the following week and directions for players. Read this carefully and you will know where to go and what to do

My membership is “pending”

Either you have not paid the registration fee, or you have paid, and we are in the process of signing you up.

I haven’t played in a long time/Am not very good….

We have a coaching block in Gaelic football for international students for the next 4 Thursdays from 5pm-6pm on Maguires. If you are a beginner, then you are more than welcome to join this. We hope to do the same in semester 2. You can also train with either Junior hurling or junior football as this is open training. Please note however that there is no absolute beginner team.

I am in the middle of club activity/am injured right now

I will make a list of these players. Its still important to register early so management have access to your details. Attend trials and introduce yourself to management and exchange contact details. If you are showing a genuine interest, then you will be given a chance.

I hope you've enjoyed your summers, cause it's time for another year with us at UL!

Hey everyone and welcome back, we're looking forward to seeing everyone on campus again, and hopefully some fresh faces as well. Membership applications are open again, so do remember to sign up for the rest of the year:

Weekly events are going to be in a state of flux due to the late arrivals of the first years, for the latest updates on times and venues come join our Discord server:

What is certain though, is that we are going to be at the C&S Fair next Wednesday from 4:00pm! The Fair is being held at the UL Sport Arena, and in there most of the clubs and societies are gonna have stalls to show off what they're all about, us included! It's a great place to say hi to us, ask any questions and meet up with returning members and other like-minded people. If you are a new student, particularly an international, we definitely recommend you visit!

If you've any questions don't be afraid to message someone on committee, they'll do their best to answer! Once again, thank you for sticking with us, and we look forward to seeing everyone soon!
