IMPORTANT NOTICE
Hello fellow members of the Yoga Society! As some of you may know, over the summer Aaliyah and I discovered that past committee members—encouraged by the former President and Vice-President—were transferring substantial amounts of money from the UL Yoga Society bank account to themselves. Yoga FAQs
When do class bookings open?
Class bookings for the following week will open on Fridays at 9am. Make sure to book your spot as soon as possible as our classes fill up fast!
What type of Yoga classes are offered?
As of right now, all of our instructors are trained in Vinyasa style yoga. Vinyasa is a flowing style of yoga where movement and breath link together, like a moving meditation that builds strength, flexibility, and calm. No two classes are ever the same — each teacher brings their own style and energy!
Do I need prior experience practicing yoga in order to participate in classes?
Nope! All of our classes are beginner friendly. Whether this is your 1st or 100th time practicing, our classes will provide a supportive space to move, breathe, and reconnect with yourself!
Do I need a yoga mat in order to participate in class?
No, you don't need one, however you are welcome to bring one with you! If you don't have a yoga mat, but need padding to practice on, a towel or blanket is a great substitute.

About Yoga Society

The Yoga Society is a Society at the University of Limerick founded in spring 2022. Although we believe that yoga may already be familiar to lots of you, let us shortly introduce ourselves...

What is yoga and how is it practiced in our society:

  • Yoga is a form of physical and mental awareness. It can include breath work, meditation, and asanas ( movement). This beautiful tool is an over 4000-year-old discipline that originated in North India and it is popular and well known worldwide at the moment. Yogad as a simple meditation practice with a tiny bit of movement but it now includes around 84 poses with many variations at the moment. Yoga practice can contribute to overall well-being. It is used all over the world by many practitioners and teachers of all levels and ages. Even many doctors and scientists promote yoga practice as a part of the successful treatment of many health conditions. Some of yoga's benefits can include: improvement of digestive functioning, increasing lungs capacity, building strength and flexibility, helping with mood swings, tiredness, or insomnia, calming the mind, and improving concentration.
  • Yoga can be categorized into many and substyles. Our Yoga instructor teaches and practices Vinyasa Yoga. This is a very popular and open Yoga style. The practice is quite flowy and can be different every time. Vinyasa also includes breathwork and a bit of meditation.
