Welcome to the Monday evening Independents climbing session, a place where anything is possible and dreams become reality. Free climbing shoes and harnesses to rent during the session are one of those dreams, so no need to go out and buy any expensive equipment.

This session is for our independent climbers who have passed our in-house belay tests or beginners who want to independently boulder too.

If you haven't done the belay test you can still climb in the bouldering area or with the auto-belays after receiving the climbing induction from one of our supervisors.

Feel free to reach out or ask a supervisor if you have any questions (we're all geniuses so I'm sure we'll be able to help)!  Please note that you cannot belay another climber without both climbers having passed the UL Wolves belay test first.

About Outdoor Pursuits Club

We’re excited for another adventure-filled year with the Outdoor Pursuits Club (OPC)!

To keep up to date with everything happening in the club — from hikes and trips to training sessions — make sure to follow us on Instagram @ulopc.

What We Do
Our goal is simple: to spark a love for the outdoors and help members build the skills to enjoy it safely. We run regular training in caving, climbing, and orienteering, as well as advanced training in mountaineering and outdoor climbing, before our international trips to amazing places like Scotland, the Alps, Poland, Spain, and beyond.

Sunday Hikes
Every Sunday, we explore some of Ireland’s most beautiful landscapes. They’re a brilliant way to stay active, make new friends, and discover hidden gems. All you need are sturdy boots (with ankle support!), waterproofs, food, and water — we’ll take care of the rest.

Trips & Gear
For our caving, orienteering, and climbing trips, we provide all the gear you’ll need so that you can focus on adventure. Our famous weekend trips are not to be missed — from Connemara’s wild coastlines to the Wicklow Mountains, they’ve gained legendary status thanks to the hikes, the craic, and the stories you’ll never forget.

Climbing Wall
Did you know UL has Ireland’s tallest roped wall and the only full-length speed wall? OPC members get free access to this state-of-the-art facility beside the UL Sports Arena — perfect for training, learning, and having the craic.

Stay Connected
Sign-ups for trips and events will be announced through weekly emails and on Instagram, so keep an eye out — spaces can go fast!

We can’t wait to see you on the trails, in the caves, or on the wall.
See you in the outdoors!
