About WiSTEM2D Society

What is WiSTEM2D?

-> Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing and Design (STEM2D)

This society was created to empower and support under-represented students studying subjects within the STEM2D discipline - a typically male-dominated industry. We recognise the power of diversity and wish to foster an open and inclusive culture in STEM.

Membership is open to all, regardless of gender. We aim to encourage an inclusive environment by providing our members with enhanced opportunities to grow as professionals, leaders and individuals and by driving the attraction, development and retention of talented women within STEM.

"I was taught that the way of progress was neither swift nor easy." - Marie Curie

Our Goals:

1. To tackle peer isolation by creating a safe space where people can meet other people within the same and/or similar discipline.

2. To introduce the students to the benefits and importance of early peer networking; by hosting corporately sponsored information sessions with industry relevant guest speakers.

3. To actively combat the “leaky pipeline” by targeting secondary school students and encouraging them to take higher level math and STEM subject choices for their Leaving Certificate.

We offer:

- fun social events

- industrial site tours

- information nights with guest speakers

- career-focused workshops

- study groups

- networking events

- secondary school visits
