Here is the HSO handover document for the UL Politics Society, this document is vital to ensure the health and safety of everyone who joins the politics society 


The role of HSO is defined in Article 4.1.2 of the Society Constitution as follows “The Health and Safety Officer’s duties shall be to ensure that the Society’s Safety Statement is relevant and achievable, that the Society ensures good safety records are kept and that the Society complies with its Safety Statement.” The key responsibilities consist of  

  • Preparing a risk assessment where an activity carries a risk 
  • Ensuring compliance with the Safety Handbook (Safety Management System) 
  • Having a working knowledge of the information contained in the Safety Handbook in order to provide advice to the rest of the committee and take the lead on actions where needed 
  • Reviewing and updating the Safety Handbook if needed and ensuring it complies with relevant C&S policies and procedures relating to it.  

The Safety Handbook can be found in the section titled “Safety Handbook” in the Documents section of the sidebar in the Committee Portal.
