"QUEER TREASURE Irish activists and organisations have always shown a keen interest in documenting our struggle for liberation and acceptance. Since 1997, Tonie Walsh has curated the collection known as the Irish Queer Archive, the origins of which extend back to 1973 and the beginning of LGBT civil rights on the island of Ireland. In this keynote, Tonie outlines why we should document and celebrate LGBT history; and describes attempts at collecting, preserving and documenting materials in the latter part of 20th c. Ireland, including the Cork LGBT Archives, the Irish Trans Archive and the HIV/AIDS Archive. Offering an overview of the Irish Queer Archive, its foundation and historic transfer in 2008 to the National Library of Ireland, Tonie shares suggestions for using the collection, best archival practice, protocols for deposit; and the big question, what's next for queer culture heritage?"

"The Siege of Limerick 2026 !!!All are invited to The Siege of Limerick, the best tournament of the year!! Hosted on our very own campus, teams come from all over the world to play in Ireland's largest outdoor frisbee tournament that caters to both the Women's and Open division. To kick off the weekend we will have our annual fundraiser on Friday the 6th in The Locke Bar to raise money for Jigsaw, a charity that provide valuable resources for young people's mental health. Games begin on the Saturday over on North Campus and we'll see a great mix of battles between college teams and clubs from Ireland and oversees. After a long day of playing we bring the party to Dolans for a night of music, meeting fellow tournament attendees, and extravagant costumes to fit the theme - check out the instgram @thesiegeoflimerick to find out what this theme is. Then we'll drag our tired heads and bodies back to North Campus bright and early on Sunday morning to continue the fun and decide who the winners of The Siege of Limerick will be. Of course those of us still standing will gather for chill pints/debrief in Hurlers on Sunday night to reminisce on the great weekend we just had (and maybe start making plans for next year). Participation in this tournament will be organised through our main communication platform- WhatsApp so if you aren't in the group send us an email and we'll sort you out!"

Dr. Whiston also contributes to applied research projects at UL, including studies on physical activity and stroke recovery, and is actively involved in interdisciplinary collaborations within the university’s Health Research Institute. We’re excited to welcome Dr Whiston for our Lunch and Learn.
