Last Week the Environmental Society had its busiest week yet! We had 3 events over 3 days in collaboration with other societies, namely Mountain Biking, Music and the Sub-Aqua Club.

Last Tuesday we had a stall at the Farmers Market in the student courtyard where we promoted a new law which states that you give 1 meter when overtaking cyclists. We also played music by DJ Taha using a sound system powered by peddling a bike! Wolfie was so impressed he had to show up and check us out!

Last Wednesday, along with the Sub-Aqua Club we hosted a pub quiz in Scholars where so many brilliant people showed up and won some amazing prizes! We asked all kinds of nature themed questions ranging from topics like Food & Drink, Geography and SCUBA diving! By all accounts everyone had great fun and are looking forward to the next one ;)

Finally on last Thursday we welcomed Dr. Simon Berrow, CEO of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) to PESS who gave us all an amazing talk on Irish Marine life. He talked about Ireland's 25 cetacean species (whales, dolphins and porpoise), how to identify them and even how they monitor them. He also spoke with great passion of his personal grá for basking sharks, commonly found on Irelands West coast. Did you know that their oil once powered street lights in Galway and Waterford? He also brought a variety of cool IWDG paraphernalia like a drone, a dolphin skull and the eye of a humpback whale!

Thanks to everyone who came and we hope ye had great fun!
