Week 3 Event

We are delighted to announce a new event taking place tomorrow, 7th February 2022 from 1pm to 5pm, in collaboration with the UL Esports Science Research Lab.

Members will be able to try out the new Logitech PRO Racing Wheel in Assetto Corsa Competizione for a 30 minute session. It is a wonderful opportunity to try the latest in direct drive hardware.

Slots are extremely limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-ups are available now on our UL Wolves site, so be quick !!

Hi all, we are delighted to announce that on Friday, 21st October 2022 we will be taking 20 members to Watergrasshill, Co.Cork.

This event will be a Grand Prix race, with each driver getting a 5 minute practice session immediately followed by a 35 minute race.

The event fee is €30, this is inclusive of bus and race entry.

The bus will depart from the Stables at 6pm sharp, there can be no deviation from this in order to arrive at Watergrasshill in good time. There will be no stopping for food during the event so please ensure that all attendees bring a packed lunch. Our estimated time of return to UL is 11pm.

IMPORTANT

Online sign-ups will open on our Wolves site at midday this Wednesday, 12th October 2022. The €30 for this event will be paid in cash. We also offer card payments which will cost €30.75 to cover transaction fees. To facilitate this we will be holding two payment sessions at the following times:

Karting Announcement

We´re back and hitting the track!! This Thursday, 6th of October 2022 we will be running our first session of karting for the semester at the National Kart Centre, Limerick.

We will be taking 30 ULRM Members to the centre. We will meet at the health sciences building from 18.00 and we will depart at 18.20 sharp.

The event will cost €17 and must be paid when you arrive at the event (Exact change would be very much appreciated). We also offer card payments which will cost €17.50 to cover transaction fees. Cancellations can be made up until midday, on the day of the event. If you sign up and do not attend the event, you will not be eligible to attend any other events this semester.

Sign-ups will begin on Wednesday 5th October at midday on our UL wolves site, you must be a registered and accepted member on our Wolves site to sign-up.

It is a first-come, first-served sign-up and we do expect interest to be even higher this year than last. Looking forward to seeing you all on the track soon!

End of Year Karting Event - Southeast Trip

We are delighted to announce our final major event of the semester. On Saturday, 23rd April 2022 we will be taking 21 members two karting facilities in one day !!

Kiltorcan Raceway, Co. Kilkenny will host the first event, a 30 minute sprint session, with each driver going flat out to set the fastest lap of the session.

We will then be travelling to the nearby Non-Stop Karting track in Co. Waterford, where our group will be split into 7 teams of 3, with each team aiming to complete the most laps to win our endurance race.

The event fee is €35, this is inclusive of bus, sprint session and endurance race.

The bus will depart from the Stables at 11am sharp, there can be no deviation from this in order to arrive at Kiltorcan in good time. On the return to UL, the bus will stop at the Barack Obama Plaza for food.

The race will take place on the discord server in Brands hatch on the indy track layout. Everybody will be driving the MX-5 Cup Car.

Outdoor Team Endurance Karting Event We are delighted to announce our first major event of 2022. On Saturday, 12th February 2022 we will be taking 30 members to Whiteriver, Co. Louth. The event will be a 3 Hour Endurance race, with each driver racing for an hour (2x 30 minute stints each). 10 teams will compete for the win !! The event fee is €32, this is inclusive of bus, endurance race and a special raffle entry (4x Winners)... The bus will depart from the Stables at 9am sharp, there can be no deviation from this in order to arrive at Whiteriver in good time. On the return to UL, the bus will stop at Junction 14 for food. This semesters championship will be a 6-round competition consisting of 6, 2 race events.

The best 5 races of each driver at the end of the championship will equal their total points for Season 2, i.e., each driver can miss 1 race without penalty

The championship will be a single class event with one tier of competitors. Positions are available on a first-come, first-served basis with drivers welcome to enter at any point in the championship. A sign-up post will go live the day before each race.

The complete session will take no longer than one hour and twenty minutes. Practice will be 8 minutes long, followed by a 25-minute qualifying session. The first race will be 30 minutes. Rolling will be used. During Race 1 you must make a mandatory pitstop (At least 1 litre of fuel). This will be indicated at the top centre of the screen for each competitor. Failure to pit will result in automatic disqualification. Race 2 will be a 20-minute sprint race with no mandatory pitstop, reverse grid. Tire wear will be fixed at 300% with clear weather. Jump will be penalized with a drive-through penalty.

Balance of Performance:

We are introducing ballast for this season. The ballast will be based on the previous race and will be changed before every race. The winner of the previous race will carry a 25kg weight, 2nd an 18kg weight and 3rd a 15kg weight. The podium of the previous rounds Race 2 will also carry this ballast into qualifying of the next round.

Penalties, Damage and Incidents:

Track cut penalties will be enabled and damage will be disabled for the races. If this needs to be altered, competitors will be made aware of same before the next race. Any incident which a driver feels requires further investigation should be brought to the attention of Ger or Davide. Review of incidents may result in a penalty. If either Ger or Davide are involved in an incident, the review will be given to the ULRM committee, and their decision will be final.

Assists:

Stability control will be disabled to ensure fair tyre wear. All other assists, TC and ABS for example, will be left stock and driver-controllable.

Prizes:

There will be several prizes for the championship. The top three will receive voucher prizes.

Extraordinary General Meeting held by the society in preparation of next year, voting for the core committee for the upcoming autumn semester.

Tomorrow we will host a special event on Assetto Corsa at 8 p.m.: We will race on a randomly selected track for a 30 minutes race with randomly selected cars (split in two categories), which will be extracted on the night. Make sure to register on our Discord 'championship' channel, more information about the rules are available there too. See you then!

ULRM will be hosting a watch-along event of the newly-released third season of the Netflix series Drive to Survive. we will chat along while watching the new season all about the intricacies of last year's F1 championship

Join us for the 4th Round of our Inaugural Sim-Racing Championship !! As always we invite all of our members to participate in the race itself. The race will be streamed in its entirety by UL Esports so there are endless ways to participate. We will be taking on the infamous Nürburgring track in our LMP1 and GT3 cars as the championship comes down to the final races. The championship standings are extremely close with the championship definitely now going to the final round. Looking forward to seeing you all there !!

Hello everyone! We are very excited to announce a hotlap challenge to our members!

The challenge consists of setting the fastest single lap time around Spa, using a Ferrari F40 Step 3 (not the stock one).

Proof of the ownership and validity of the lap will be required in the form of a dated screenshot and preferably a replay of the lap. Driving assists and car tuning will be allowed in this first challenge. The winner of the challenge will receive a €25 voucher for the platform of their choice! The competition will close on Friday, 11th Deember at midnight.

To submit your entry, post your screenshot/video in the dedicated channel in our Discord server (link here: https://discord.gg/QfjjbJk). The table with the fastest times will be updated regularly. N.B.: To enter the competition, you must be an active member of the society, meaning you have paid for your membership fee.

According to the Wolves' Wednesday initiative, ULRM is going to host a sim-racing event on our Assetto Corsa server

Reminder that the AGM was postponed to Thursday week 6, the 5th of November. This will be a great opportunity to join the committe, contribute in the society and having your voice heard. It will take place on Microsoft Teams, the link of which will be shared soon.

Once again, Saturday at 9 p.m. we will host an F1 2020 lobby on PS4 and an Assetto Corsa server on PC. All participants will be able to communicate via Discord as usual. The event is open to everyone, the more the merrier!

Hello Everyone! This Wednesday will be our second karting night of the semester at the National Kart Centre. We'll be meeting at the Health Sciences Building at 6pm, before leaving to walk over to NKC at 6:15pm. 

The aim of our Casual Karting nights is to provide a relaxed session of Go-Karting (within reason ;) ) without having to worry about your times, positions or points like in a championship. This is unlike our last few years where every karting event counted towards our championship. This is a great opportunity have fun thrashing a kart around the track with a whole load of new people!

There is two karting options available for the night. 
Normal Karting - €10 (24 spots available)
Drift Karting - €15 (12 Spots Available)
You may do both types of Karting on the night but you will have to be in the first session for the Drift Karting and the last session for the Normal.

The first round of the SSI Karting Intervarsities championship is coming up soon and we are looking for our fastest drivers to represent ULRM. We will be looking at some of the fastest new prospects to be possibly shortlisted for the team when we review the results from the first few rounds.

This meeting will give you all a chance to meet the committee and give you an idea of what to expect from us for the year to come. It's also your chance to share any thoughts or ideas with us that you might have to make the society better. 

For anyone who didn't get to join us at Recruitment Drive or have requested membership and not met a committee member yet, we will be ready to sign new members up as well!

We will be holding our first Karting Internal League night of the semester on Tuesday the 20th of September. Sign ups will be held on Monday 19th of September at the Red Raisins Cafe. We will be meeting then at 6.45 Tuesday Evening outside the Health Sciences Building then walking over to NKC to be on track for 7.30. Cost €10.
