Fast fashion hurts our planet. Buying less is the easiest way to curb your impact, but what if what you already have is getting worn out?
Come along to KBG-10 (different room than usual!) and learn how to mend your own clothes. Sewing experience not required, materials will be provided. We'll teach you how to hem, patch and darn, as well as reinforcing fading fabric and answer any questions you have on how to care for your clothes.

Just a heads up that this week we will not be holding our traditional Monday night event and instead will be going to visit the UL Rooftop garden on Thursday (10th of March)!

We are going to be setting up a thrift shop in the courtyard.
You will be able to buy whatever stock we have available or barter for clothes, without the exchange of any monies.
The purpose of this project is to raise awareness of sustainable fashion, and how easy it is to buy clothes without any damage to our environment.
Any stock left over will go towards helping us run a catwalk in the next semester.

We will be setting up a clothes collection point on Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 to 16:30, for any students who wish to get rid of any unwanted clothes, and free up some space.
The aim is to run a Thrift and Barter Shop the week after to promote sustainable fashion as well as raise funds for the society.
You will be able to buy second-hand clothes or barter/swap for any clothes they see and like in Week 9.

We will be running a recycling awareness competition called the "12 days of Christmas" where we raise awareness of what you can and cannot recycle, ending with an online quiz, open to everyone who is following one of our social medias. We will attend the first ever Green campus online webinar which is run by An Taisce. The speakers are Carina Mutschele from UN Environment Programme will introduce the recently published Little Book of Green Nudges. https://www.unenvironment.org/resources/publication/little-book-green-nudges This is a book on how to nedge people/groups/organisations to enact green initiatives. Next, Samantha Fahy from Dublin City University will present on Carbon Footprinting taking place in Dublin City University. To conclude, Dermot O’Donovan from GMIT Letterfrack will present on Trees fighting climate change - revaluing our natural resources.
