From James Organ in the WhatsApp group:
"If anyone going to the bird walk has binoculars make sure to bring them. We will start at 7:40 near PESS and walk along the southern shore of the Shannon all the way past Dromroe Village towards the Boat House before looping back round and finishing up at the Living Bridge for roughly 9am. We will look for scarce species such as Otter, Kingfisher, Dipper, Yellow-Browed Warbler, Chiffchaff and Blackcap aswell as all the common species. We’ll have a good chat and a bit of craic along the way too ofc! The path might be a bit mucky so don’t wear you new white shoes! Also try not to wear any really bright coloured tops like red or blue as it might scare the birds off. No stress it thats all you have. See ye then!"

On Tuesday the 27th of February, the EU passed a key piece of Green Deal legislation into law. The Nature Restoration Law mandates the restoration of up to 90% of ecosystems across the bloc. The law has been beset by controversy, much of it manufactured by the EPP, which announced that it would not vote for the law shortly before the plenary, despite negotiating its contents for six months. Remarkably, almost all the Irish MEPs voted to pass this vital law.
To discuss this happy development, and to follow on from our meeting with MEP Grace O'Sullivan last semester, EnviroSoc will be holding a roundtable with a couple of the political societies. Refreshments and drinks will be provided.
