We'll be teaming up with Taste Of Androgyny to bring you the drag experience you enjoy. Tickets will be €15, so tune in next week and get them while they're hot! Don't feel too bad if you miss out online, though. We take cash and cards at the door. Think you have what it takes to compete? Want to show all your friends what you're made of? Annual General Meeting

Posted 19th Sep 2025
Author Krisztián Borotai

Interested in joining a committee? Want to learn new skills, make friends, or are just really dead set on getting the PVA Award this academic year?

Next week, we will be hosting our AGM! That is our Annual General Meeting, where we will be inviting some new faces onto our committee. Feel free to come just to socialise (and for the free pizza :D).

For those that are potentially interested, details of what positions are open, are below. The main thing to consider is that you would need to be available most Mondays, 19:00-20:00, for committee meetings, and that you will be taking up a certain amount of responsibilities, which depend on the position, your general availability, etc. Nothing absolutely unmanageable, and very fulfilling, for people that do enjoy this sort of thing!

The committee positions that are available are as follows:

  • Secretary: Take minutes during meetings, as well as keeping track of attendance.
  • Public Relations Officer: Manages social media and sends out weekly emails regarding meetings and other social outings. Also designs posters and answers general enquiries about the society. (This work will be shared with another PRO, don't worry)
  • Treasurer's Assistant: Assists the treasurer in managing the society's finances.
  • Event's Assistant: Assists the Event's Officer in planning and organising events, as well as booking venues.
  • Campaign's Officer: In charge of organising, planning and running Out in UL campaigns.
  • Ordinary Committee Member: Helps other committee members with any tasks they are not able to do themselves.

More details will be provided by us on the night. Also, do not worry if you are interested in a particular position but have zero skills! The only ''relevant experience'' you need is a willingness to learn, as cheesy as that sounds

The AGM will be held at the same time and place as last week; on Monday the 22nd, 18:00-19:00, in the Wolf-Land Room of the Student Centre (up the big stairs, after the Forest Room)We encourage all members to attend, for the sake of democracy (there will be a vote), to have a chat, and for the pizza ;).

We hope to see you there!

Posted 4th Nov 2019

Hey everyone!!

How’s everyone been finding the semester so far? Pretty good I hope! Anyway, it is my privilege to give you the run through of our events for Rainbow Week 2019!!

Today, we have our courtyard event! We will have a canvas, we’ll have some paint and people can paint on with a colour representing their identity! This is on from 12-4 and in the evening, after our members meeting, we’ll be moving to the Common Room in the Student Life Centre for a Kahoot Quiz Night!

On Tuesday, a drag workshop hosted by former AMUL contestants Abraham Blake and Sarah Hogan will take place in Room 3 of the SLC (the room where we have Queer Hangouts) from 2-4, in prep for AMUL that evening!! Tickets for AMUL are €5, and will be available!!

As for Tuesday evening, it’s the event that needs no introduction, the showstopper of the semester (drumroll please!)…Alternative Miss UL!!!

On Wednesday, we are hosting a workshop with Feminist Society on intersectionality, followed by a Movie Night in collaboration with Campus Life Services!!  We will be watching The Shiny Shrimp, a French comedy about an athlete who has to coach a water polo team after making homophobic comments in an interview. It promises to be an interesting watch!

On Thursday, Queer Hangouts is running as usual, and in the evening we are having a Big Night Out! For this Big Night Out, we will be going from Scholars to Rollerjam Limerick for a roller disco, before going into town! Tickets are €7 and are available at all events in the next two weeks, so come along!

On Friday, we will be collabing with Tea Appreciation Society for “Recovertea”, where we relax from the excitement of the week! This is also on in ULSL Room 3 from 12-2pm, so join us for a nice relaxing cup of tea!

…..But you didn’t think we’d let you relax so early, did you? Because in the evening we will be hosting Rainbow International Night in Stables in collaboration with International Society! Entry is €5, so come along with us to see the end of the week!

As you can see, we have a packed week for you all! Tickets for all ticketed events will be available throughout the week, so come along and ask any of our wonderful committee! Hope to see you all at the events!
