A workshop to give new players an introduction to Dungeons and Dragons, and to give old players a refresher

Back from the dead, watch your backs as UL Zombies makes its return during week 3!

Sign-up is €5, just find one of our committee members to getd!

The game is simple: Start off as a survivor, and try to document and evade zombies as long as possible.
If you do get caught... you're one of them now. You must now try and infect as many survivors as you can by the end of the week.

Players have to document their experience to count towards our prizes, post on Instagram using #ulz23 or follow the hashtag as a spectator!

This is a Mario Kart tournment held on the Switch in EG010 at 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The entry is €5, there will be 16 players and the prize will be Mario Themed.

Hi everyone. We hope you all had a great holiday break. 

There will be an EGM on Monday, 30th of January at 6pm in EG-010, before Tabletop Night, which will resume as normal after the meeting. 

This EGM is to find a new Events Officer for the society. The role of Events Officer includes corresponding with locations for events/trips, getting quotes for activities, and helping to plan and execute events along with the other committee members. 

If you are interested in this role or have any questions, please feel free to DM a member of the GSoc committee.

The Games Society is holding an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Wednesday, 16 November 2022 at 6:00PM in EG-010.

The purpose of this meeting is to vote on the replacement of the Public Relations Officer, with the current PRO nominating their assistant, Caitlin Earle, as the primary candidate.

Members can vote to accept this nomination and elect Caitlin as the new PRO, or to open the position to a standard election, as defined in Section 5.2 of the Society Constitution.

Once elected, the new PRO will assume the position on committee, effective immediately. Based on committee discretion, the Assistant PRO position will be reviewed and re-appointed/removed as appropriate.

We encourage all members to attend, and we hope to see everyone there!

Games Society - along with our friends in Fencing - will be hosting a pub quiz in the Pavilion on Tuesday, November 1st. 

EVERYONE is welcome to join in - you do NOT have to be in a club or society member to take part and show off your trivia knowledge (or lack of it!)

There will be a maximum of 4 people per team.

If you don't have someone to go with, don't worry - we WILL find a team for you.

The entry fee will be €3 per person, or €10 if you enter as a team of 4. Payment will be accepted at the door.

THERE WILL BE PRIZES FOR THE FIRST 3 TEAMS.

"The Help" will be the film of choice for the evening, and we'll have some of our most chill board games brought out for everyone to try out as well.

As with every year, the AGM marks the transition between the previous year's committee and the next through a general election, alongside discussion and voting about any important matters arising.

You must be a member of the Society to vote in this event, all attendees will be checked to make sure they are a registered member. You can sign up on the day, but it's encouraged to apply beforehand to spare the hassle.

While the pandemic is on it's way out now, we all still have to remain safe, and so we would encourage our new committee membres to get certified as a COVID officer, the process is easy and you'll be able to manage COVID safety in many events, not just those in GSoc!

Skribbl is the classic game of Pictionary brought online, where you try to guess what's being drawn! Play the game at https://skribbl.io/ and guess alongside everyone else on the Discord server!

Among Us is a hit game ripping its way through the internet, where you either try to survive as a crewmate, or attempt to pick off the crew one by one without being found out as an impostor. Available for FREE on mobile devices, this game will test your ability to bluff or your detective skills. Either way, battles of wit will decide who stays, or who gets thrown into the abyss.

Once again, if you have any games you want to play with others the following week(s), just give the committee a shout and we'll see what we can do to make it a reality!

Starting off this semester's move to more online events comes Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, a staple game for parties looking for some chaotic cooperation!

One player is trapped in a room with a ticking time bomb they must defuse. The other players are the "Experts" who must give the instructions to defuse the bomb by deciphering the information found in the Bomb Defusal Manual. But there's a catch: the Experts can't see the bomb, so everyone will need to talk it out - fast!
The defusal manual is available at bombmanual.com for those who wish to play, you can even print it out if you'd like!

Entry is free of charge, all that you need to do to partake is join our Discord Server and hop into the main voice channel, make sure you have the manual on-hand, some scrap paper and a pen, you'll need it!

The Games and Anime & Manga Societies present all trainers out there with a challenge. Can you defeat our combined strength as an elite 4 and take down our champion. If you think you can defeat us then prove it. First trainer to defeat the champion will win a copy of Pokémon Sword or Shield, whichever the winner would prefer, which does release this week. There will be prizes for second and third place as well.

We are collaborating with the UL Archery Club, UL Drama Society, UL Tea Appreciation Society, UL Fencing Club, UL Feminist Society, UL Electronic Sports Club, UL Taekwondo Club and UL Games Development Society for our traditional game of Zombies. Zombies is essentially a big campus wide game of tag where survivors will need to evade the ever growing horde of zombies as each survivor gets tagged they then become a zombie. It's 3 euro entry and if you are a member of any of the 9 clubs and societies taking part then you are than welcome to take part yourself. All entry fees will go towards the fundraiser known as Leon's Lifeline.

Come along to our collaboration pub quiz with anime and manga society. We'll have plenty of questions about games, anime, general knowledge and more. Plenty of prizes to be won on the night. Hope ye enjoy!

Come along to the Student's Union for a pizza and caffiene-fuelled night of gaming, and a great chance to meet other gamers!

Running for 12 hours, we'll be playing a variety of games, from consoles to card games to board games, and many more. Some of the usual highlights of our lock ins include LAN tournaments, games of Werewolf and Mafia, Magic drafts and Yu Gi Oh cubes, and general gaming fun.
