I still have a question. |

On Saturday the 20th September we took part in a charity Tag Tournament for Jigsaw Limerick. UL Wolves Tag Rugby players joined Knights Tag Rugby to raise over €400 for this important charity. We played one ladies match followed by two mixed matches and it was great to see some of our newest members getting involved!
Jigsaw Limerick is a free, non-judgmental, and confidential mental health support service for young people aged 12-25 living, working or studying in Limerick City and County.
A big thanks to Garryowen FC for hosting and to Shane Landers for organizing.
Well done to all involved!

UL Wolves Tag Rugby is proud to share that once again a large number of our members recently represented Ireland at the annual British and Irish Cup held in Nottingham. Playing for Ireland is a huge honour and the lads and ladies made the club and their families very proud.
We would also like to acknowledge the hard work put in by one of our own coaches Alan O’Brien who coached both the men’s and ladies Irish U22 squads.

UL Tag Rugby Wolves' Mixed Open Squad travelled to St. Mary's College, Galway, on Saturday 5th of April to defend the Intervarsity title they first claimed in 2024.
Hosted by ATU Galway, UL faced off against the hosts and Queens University Belfast in a round-robin tournament with two games against each college on a hot and sunny day in the heart of Galway.
Captained by Kate O'Connell with Jack Curran as Vice Captain, Alan O'Brien's team had a number of representative debuts but they didn't look out of place at this level. For some of the squad, they were playing against their Irish international teammates which added another competitive edge to the day.
After going unbeaten throughout the day, UL took the trophy back to Limerick and ensured that the University of Limerick remains the only name etched on the perpetual trophy.
Highlights and a selection of tries are posted on the UL Tag Rugby Instagram account.
Panel:
Kate O’Connell (C), Alex Martindale, Alex Orpin, Caoilinn O’Donoghue, Emer Hynes, Emma O’Dwyer, Joanna Doohan, Moya Henn, Jack Curran (VC), Bill Allen, Cathal Breslin, Claude Powell, Conor Cleary, Max Passberger, Philip Spillane, Zachary Moore.

Congratulations to all the UL Wolves who represented Team Ireland at the recent Tag Rugby World Cup in UL - the first time in the tournament's history that it has been held in the Northern Hemisphere!
Our players made up key parts of the Mens 21, Womens 21, Mens Open, and Mixed Open Squads, the latter team earning a Bronze medal while the others achieved fourth in the world status.
Looking forward to having the players and coaches back on Maguire's field this September, with a Southern Hemisphere TWC in 2026 being the next big target!

A huge congratulations to the thirteen UL Wolves who represented their country in a challenge series against Great Britain Tag last weekend.
With seven players on the Men's Development team, led by Alan O'Brien, who also coaches in weekly in UL, and six on the Women's Development team, UL Wolves supplied the highest representation of any club in the country. This is a real reward for all the hard work that players and coaches have put in over the last few years, and a supplement to the large number of international players from the UL panel that played in either the International Tag Series or British & Irish Cup this summer.
All of these players are now eligible to be selected for the Tag Rugby World Cup squads, at either U21 level or in the Open categories. With UL being the first northern hemisphere host venue ever, we're looking forward to seeing more Wolves in green on campus in August 2023.
If you have dreams of representing your country, or just want to take up a new team sport and learn from those at the top of their game, join our training sessions on Tuesdays & Thursdays during the semester. DM us on Instagram for more information.

September 8th saw the Irish tag rugby teams travelling to London for the British & Irish Cup. And thanks to the fantastic progress the club has made over the last year, 12 UL athletes were part of the time. Brian Cunningham, Joe Jordan, David Moloney, Michael Fenton, Rosie Newton, Ellen O'Sullivan, Sinead O'Reilly, Michelle O'Driscoll, Syphonia Pua, Mairead O'Sullivan, Kevin Ahern and Peter Connolly all took part in a day of tight competition with coach Shane Landers overseeing them. Unfortunately, GB were the overall victors on the day, winning the B&I Cup for the first time. However, our athletes performed fantastically and come home ready to push the club on to greater heights.
