Event
Location: Hunt Museum
Meeting: Stable bus stop

The Hunt Museum displays the collection of John Hunt, an avid collector of historical artefacts. It contains everything from ancient tools to postmodern paintings in the picturesque Customs House. We will be getting a guided tour on Thursday the 20th of November.

This tour will cost €10-15 as you'll be getting a membership to the Friends of the Hunt Museum. The membership allows you and any guest free access (€10 for 3 months and €15 for a year). You will also get access to frequent talks and trips. Cost is set on this system as 10 only because we cannot enter two numbers.

We will be leaving the bus stop at the next bus after 2.15. Unlike previous events, we will not wait, but if you are late you can follow us in and join us there. If you would prefer to meet us in town, let us know. If you have booked but cannot make it please let us know in advance.

The Museum is an inclusive place which puts accessibility and community connectedness at its forefront. It contains, for example, an "accommodation station" which contains light portable stools, fidget toys, magnifying glasses and so on. They also host regular community events, as well as being an important conservator of artefacts and art. Your purchase of this ticket helps to support all this.

About History Society

Are you a history student?

Are you not a history student, but interested in the great interwoven tapestry of events that brought us to where we are now?

Are you an international student looking to learn more about Irish history?

Are you just looking for a place where you can meet like-minded friends while learning new things?

Well, whoever you are, welcome to the University of Limerick History Society! The UL History Society has brought history to life in a fun and friendly way since 1997. From 2020 to 2022, we were, well, history. But we’re back and more committed than ever to making history enjoyable and accessible for all!

The society caters to both academics and the social side of things. We have public talks and discussions with academics from all areas of the subject. We have close links to UL History Department. We also have trips, fun events and collaborations with other societies aplenty. There’s something to suit everyone, and if you have an event idea, we are always open to suggestions!

Probably most importantly- you don't need to be a history student to join. We have members from any and all degree programmes. Anyone with an interest in any area of history, however general or niche, or who would like to learn a little more about Ireland's history will find a home with us.

We have major plans for the coming year, so make sure to follow us on Instagram: @ulhistorysociety for updates. We also have a Discord for members to join!

We are a growing society and we're always open to suggestions for events, large and small, academic and social. Please feel free to contact us with any questions and/or suggestions using the message function here on Wolves.

Our primary aim is to make history accessible to everyone. - Historia pro omnibus

Congrats to our President and re-establisher Jack Trehy for winning a very well-deserved Societies Individual of the Year at the Clubs and Socs Awards 2024!
