As semester 1 2024 comes to a close we wanted to say well done to all our members who hugely contributed to the Club this year so far.
It was a busy one with the Men’s, Woman’s D1 & the Men’s D2 all playing in the NBCC college League. Looking forward to closing that off in Sem 2. We ran a 3x3 night with over 80 players on the night ??. The Social league on Tuesdays was fantastic with 11 Teams involved - Well Done to the winning team.
Thanks to our coaches Niall McDermott , Jordan Hehir, Conor Coughlan , Eoghan Donaghy & Danny Mooney for their commitment. Special thanks to ben O Reilly who will be finishing after Christmas exams, you have been super in the club always willing to help. Don’t be a stranger.
Looking forward to sem 2 where we will finish off the league games , play in the Intervarsities in April, which we are also hosting. We will get to see the coaching skills of Cian Gleeson , Philip Kearney, Sarah Hickey & Sabhbh Edwards Murphy with out Fresher teams in Feb.
We will play another International League and we will also have 3x3. Best of luck to all the players we have involved in National Cup Semi's.
Lastly you will be able to purchase the UL Wolves Basketball Merch. Enjoy the Break.

Happy New Year to all our members. As we head into Semester 2 and what is known as the business end of the season, we wanted to briefly re-cap on Semester 1.
We started off the year with a fantastic intake of members we currently have 230+ members. We knew with these numbers we would need more courts and potentially teams. So in the Woman's we have the senior D1 and Fresher Team. In the Men's we have a team in D1, D2 & D3 with Freshers as well.
All games were played in the first half of the year with a few big hitters left or Semester 2. Currently the Men are top of the League table. The Ladies are second with a game in hand. The Men's The Men's D3 are currently top of the table as well so all in all a great Semester 1.
Our Social basketball (Just want to "play" group) has grown massively. We have social basketball three nights a week with phenomenal numbers. We have a number of Club people doing the table for us
We have some fantastic people coaching in the club this year. Niall McDermott has taken over the D1 Men, Danny Mooney has moved up to take on the D2 team from D3 last year. Mike Sheehan is coaching the D3 team. Jordan Hehir is coaching the D1 Woman. All doing a superb job with the squads of players.
This year UL Wolves attended the First ever 3x3 competition and we were the only college to have three teams at the event. We have two men's teams and a woman's team. All the teams preformed well with the woman's and one men's team reaching the final. Worth nothing that it the UL team that reached the final knocked out the other UL Team. A good day .. LOL
The Second semester will bring a host of competition and events for the club. We have the Fresher Tournament in Feb and that is here in UL, we have the League Semi finals and Finals hopefully. Then the big one - The Intervarsities in April where it all happens - Three full days of basketball with over 30 teams to start. If you are a basketball fan this is where you want to be.
Chat to you all in Jan ..

The UL Wolves Men's Fresher Basketball bridge a ten year gap. The UL Men won the Fresher Cup for the first time since 2011. In what was a fantastic day for the club on Sunday 6th 2022. The boys played 5 games over the day and remained unbeaten. The commitment from these young men has been super and the early morning training sessions definitely paid of. We had 24 players involved over the weekend and that's why we were able to get the win. There was some excellent individual performances over the day , but it takes a "TEAM".
Well done fellas and also a shout out to Rioghan Murphy who picked up the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award from the competition. Thanks to Ben Reddy & Adam Wixted who coached the lads.
Also a shout out to the woman's team who competed on the Saturday . The girls gave a super account of themselves and thanks to Rowanna McNulty who coached the woman.
The future of the Wolf Pack is looking promising.. For full updates make sure that you follow us on Instagram & Facebook.

The club is delighted to say that the Shooting gun has arrived. This is going to be a super piece of equipment for the basketball club to ensure that we have some serious sharp shooters in the club. In the coming week we will let the members know the times when the gun is available and then you will be able to use it. Please note that at the moment this is only available for members at allocated times.
The purchase of this machine was only possible through the UL Wolves strategic fund and will serve the club well for the coming years.
