This week on our beginners session you are welcome to participate in a team competition!

In ProAm we will sort you into teams consisting of one or two advanced and a few beginners. The teams shoot a certain number of arrows and their scores are added. Team with the highest score wins and gets some nice prizes!

All safety and rules will be explained on the day, and the matches will be played in a mini-championship style! There is no harm coming along and seeing in person if you like it or not!

Last summer, the UL Archery Club had the great honour of working with World Archery to organise the World Archery Youth Championships 2023 in Limerick. The event took place July 3rd to July 9th and there was months of work involved beforehand. Aimwell Events approached us in early 2022 and asked us to help organise the WAYC23. This involved recruiting volunteers in Limerick, packing goodie bags, and organising equipment.

Qualifications took place from Monday to Friday. Every day, we set up the field of play at 6am sharp, and then set it up again when the wind blew it all down! We met archers from all around the world. Our team were spread out all across campus, guiding the athletes, organising lunches, protecting their gear, collecting arrows, and preparing accreditation passes. We worked hard and there was a lot of heavy lifting, and a lot of heavy rain. Our captain at the time Lauren was also interviewed by RTE and Student Life, leading her to become the face of our club.

Finals were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The entire event was televised, and you can catch a glimpse of Lauren and Dervla awarding medals to the winners. It was such an honour to be a part of it all.

A huge thank you to World Archery, Archery Ireland, and Aimwell Events for involving our club. Well done to Lauren Moriarty, Dervla Ryan, Eoin Timlin, Kenny Kosasih, Joseph Bourke, Emilia Ziolek and the rest of the UL Archery Team for their hard work. See you in Canada for WAYC 2024!

Spooky season is upon us! In week 7 we will be hosting our annual Halloween costume competition - make sure to come dressed up on Wednesday 25th October for a chance to win a spooky prize. 

Training schedule will run as normal, just in costumes.

Calling all aspiring archers! Join us on October 17th at 7 p.m. in the Courtyard Room of the Student Life Building for a bow introduction class!
This is a full class explaining:

• Bow parts; Limbs, Riser, Attachments, String - and exactly what they do and why you need them. 
• Technical aspects like adjusting your sight when and where/ holding the bow correctly etc.
• How to set up and string a bow at the start of training. 

We will deliver the basic information you need to understand shooting better in a short and concise PowerPoint presented by one of our committee members. We really encourage beginners to come along and entry is free!

For the first time in ever, UL Archery Club will be hosting an outdoor archery competition. We are delighted to be hosting a second event this college year, and we hope to build on the success from our indoor competiton. We are also extremely excited to be hosting this event on campus, just beside UL Boat House, so be sure to check out our our social media accounts to see how the competition unfolds!

We will be around the courtyard in UL from 10am until 3pm on Wednesday to help out for charity week!

We have a few fun ideas planed which should be enjoyable and interesting for anyone involved, so be sure to come down, give archery a try, and donate to a good cause

For the first time in over two years the UL Archery Club will host an InterVarsity competition, which is part of the national student league circuit. We are delighted to have received this honour for yet another year, and we hope to build on the success from previous years and committees. We are also extremely excited to be hosting this event in the UL Sports Arena, so be sure to check out our our social media accounts to see how the competition unfolds!

IADT intervarsity shoot. The first IV since the UL shoot at the end of march in 2020. Our advanced archers will be going to represent the club.

Our Pro/Am Shoot is taking place on Wednesday, 17th November from 7pm!

The Pro/Am Shoot consists of teams of 'Pros and Amateurs' shooting against each other in teams

• There will be two slots: Slot 1 from 7pm-8:30pm and Slot 2 from 8:30pm-10pm
• Please only book one of the two slots!

*Slots must be booked as before and masks must still be worn at all times*

The UL Archery Shave or Dye event was held over the past 2 weeks in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. The even concludes at 6pm today

The Student Finals is the last event of the Irish Student Archery calendar for the academic year 2019/2020. This is a 2 day event with the standard IV taking place on the Saturday and the head to heads taking place on the Sunday.

Our archers will compete on either the Saturday or the Sunday of this the final Intervarsity before Student Finals in NUIG later in March 

We will have a large group of our members attending the 2 day event in Cork this weekend. The first day consists of a standard Intervarsity followed by head to heads scheduled on the second day. 

We look forward to welcoming all our new club members to the start of the 6 week beginner course. No experience necessary just come by and we can start you off shooting as soon as you are signed up! Very beginner friendly as there is no prior skill or equipment needed. Its a great chance to make new friends and learn a new skill.  Looking forward to seeing you all there!

For the third year in a row, UL Archery Club will host an Intervarsity competition which is part of the national student league circuit. We are delighted to have gotten this honour for another year and hope to build on the success of previous years and previous committees. The Archery Club is getting hungry in anticipation for our annual Bake Off competition! With the exams looming why not take an opportunity to relax with some baking? Bring along a dessert, cake or treat and be in with a chance to win champion baker for the year! If you're tight on time for baking then just come along to try whats on offer and cast your vote on who you think deserves to win. Training will be running as normal with tables set up for the baked goods so you can snack as you shoot. We look forward to see what this years members have to offer and to seeing you all there!

We'll be having our annual Halloween fun shoot on Wednesday. Feel free to come dressed up in your Halloween outfits!!

Our PRO-AM is taking place during training on the 23rd of October. This is where we shoot competition style and our beginners get the chance to use all the new skills that they have acquired over their beginner's course and score their arrows. There will be prizes on the night so good luck to everyone and may the odds be ever in your favor!

This is a social event for all our members. It's €3 to be paid on the night to go towards pizza, snacks and some fizzy drinks. We will all be heading to Cappavilla as a group once training is finished and everything is cleaned up so no need to worry about finding your way there. See you then!

UL Archery Club is hosting a Table Quiz in Scholars in the student courtyard on Thursday the 10th of October (week 5). There will be finger food provided on the night and non-members are welcome so bring your friends and be in with the chance to win some fabulous prizes.

Come on down today for the official opening of the Maguires grass pitch today at 11:30. The UL Archery Club is proud to support and participate in the pitch being opened for use by the student clubs of UL. We will have a demonstration shoot taking place on the pitch and the club is looking to the future and the possibility of hosting national outdoor archery competitions at that venue. The sport of archery is growing in Ireland and as a member of Archery Ireland the UL Archery Club is keen to incorporate national events into the campus sporting calendar. If you  are interested in seeing some shooting by some of our squad do swing by and there will be many other sporting demonstrations to see as well. A big thank you goes out to the student body that voted for these facilities and to the staff of UL for realising the vision that was put forward.

The UL Archery Club is proud to host the fourth student archery league IV of the year. Following on from the successful IV we ran last year we hope to build and improve on the event year after year.

The first of this years archery intervarsities takes place saturday 10th November. We hope to expand on our succes form last year and we're giving some of our beginners their debut to the intervarsity scene.

The Final leg of the 2016/17 student achery league will be on the 11th of March. This will be held by IT tallaght archery club in DCU sports complex. We hope to bring a large team to this event as it is the last of the year and with several of our members in good positions to win big both at this individual competition and for the overall league, it should prove to be an exciting day of shooting.

UL archery will be attending the annual student nationals held by UCC archery every year in Nemo Rangers. This is very different to standard intervarsity competitions, as it will be held over both Saturday and Sunday. This will be an Olympic style event, with the ranking round running on the Saturday. Based on everyones rankings all archers will take part in the individual head to head matches on the Sunday, and the best four archers from each club going into the team head to head matches. This is always a very competitive and exciting weekend event, with the head to head matches always throwing up some surprising results.

UL Archery will be attending the third leg of this years Irish student intervarsities league this Sunday in Carlow IT. This will be a standard format of 60 arrows shot in two rounds of 30. As this is the first competitiin back his semester, we hope to get 2017 off to a good start and hopeflly some of our members will gain a few places in the league.

The fourth leg of the 2016/17 student achery league will be on the 18th of February. This will be held by UCD archery club in their sports hall. We hope to bribng a large team to this event and put many of our members in good positions before the final leg of the league which will be held on the 11th of March. This is the first time UCD archery have held a major archery competition and it will hopefully be a very enjoyable day.

The second leg of the Irish Student archery intervarsity league is taking place in Maynooth University, on the 19th of November. UL archery club will be sending a team and hope to bring home some prizes.
