We will take you through the basics of whitewater kayaking and our experienced leaders will help you navigate the rapids of the River Shannon beginning in the village of Castleconnell!
Each week we will be running a river trip with 6 beginners accompanied by qualified instructors showing you the ropes.
All you need to bring is:
Swimwear/thermals for under a wetsuit (to stay warm)
Old Shoes to wear in the water (rocks aren’t soft!)
Towel/dry clothes (for afterwards)

The Annual Kayaking Intervarsities is a chance for university paddlers from around the country to compete, socialize and make new friends. This is an event suited to kayakers of all levels and abilities and should not be missed!
Weekend Timetable
Friday: Whitewater event begins at 7am, followed by freestyle at 1. Social Night begins at 8:30
Saturday: BoaterX event begins at 7, followed by long distance races at 1. Social Night beginning at 8:30 again.
Sunday: Polo matches start at 8, followed by the awards ceremony and prize giving at 3.

Wales 2023
Kicking off the start of a new year of paddling, the Winter trip is back! We will be traveling to Wales with paddlers of all levels, a perfect opportunity to work on your personal paddling skills and set new goals for the year as well as enjoy the last week of the Christmas break before college kicks off again.
Logistics:
We will be departing Limerick together in the early hours of Sunday, the 15th of January. We will then be traveling all day by car and ferry to the Llangollen Hostel, where we will be staying for the duration of the trip.
We will be paddling on a variety of rivers throughout the week, where paddlers will be able to work on their Whitewater skills and benefit from the knowledge and skills of local professional instructors who will coach us throughout our trip.
Sunday the 22nd of January we will return by ferry to Ireland.
Cost:
The cost of the trip is 285 euros. The trip should be paid in full prior to the trip. Payments can be made to the club bank account by bank transfer, , details of which can be found here. Make sure to leave a reference note with your name and Kerry in it, e.g. JohnSmithKerry. Any problems with payment, please talk with a member of the committee.

To bring in the new year, we are returning to Kerry, a club tradition that we haven't seen in a few years. Kerry is the perfect time to meet and network with members of other College Kayak Clubs around Ireland and share our love of Kayaking.
Travel by yourself to Kenmare on Thursday, the 29th of December, address of the house is 13 Kenmare Bay Hotel Holiday Homes, Gortamullin, Kenmare, Co. Kerry. V93H516.
We do not have access to the house until 16:00.
PLEASE NOTE. THE CLUB IS NOT ARRANGING TRANSPORTATION. EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO ARRANGE THEIR OWN TRANSPORT TO AND FROM KERRY.

The cost of the trip is €38 . The trip should be paid in full by Wednesday the 21st of December. Payments are to be made to the club bank account by bank transfer, details of which can be found here. Make sure to leave a reference note with your name and Kerry in it, e.g. JohnSmithKerry. Any problems with payment, please talk with a member of the committee.
What's included?
The €38 pays for your accommodation and all the kayaking gear you need. There are shops and takeaways located around Kenmare for any meals.

We will be leaving at 6pm Friday the 4th of November and staying in a hostel, in Wicklow, for two nights. We will be running rivers like the Liffey, Kings River etc. depending on river levels. We will run rivers on both Saturday and Sunday, and will head back to Limerick Sunday afternoon.
This trip will involve running slightly more challenging rivers and developing the skills of our members. This trip will be open to beginners, intermediates and advanced members alike.
The cost for the whole weekend will be 45 euros. This includes transport, hostel, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday.

This sign up is for any beginner members that would like to come along for a whitewater trip to Castleconnell, located about 15 minutes from the University. We will be meeting at the boathouse from 4pm sharp and from there we will organise transport.
Places are very limited on the trip today, but we will have our main whitewater trip for beginners on Wednesday afternoon at 2pm.
All you need to bring is:
Swimwear/thermals for under a wetsuit (to stay warm)
Old Shoes to wear in the water (rocks aren’t soft!)
Towel/ change of dry clothes (for afterwards)
Mask
All other Kayaking gear including wetsuits and transport will be provided. If you have your own kayaking gear/wetsuit you are more than welcome to bring it along.

Please arrive as ready as possible to get on the water, as at this time we do not have access to the main boathouse changing facilities.

Hey Guys! Boathouse is in a bit of a state there since Varsities which is to be expected, good on everyone for getting out training! Boathouse clean up is taking place on Monday the 24th of February, starting at 19.30. There will be a skip there for all old broken gear gone beyond heir use. We will have stations for fixing Spraydecks and wetsuits and broken boats. Don't worry if you haven't done any of these things before there will be people there who know what they are at and will be able to teach! the more people we have the easier and quicker we will be, Make sure to come down and give a hand, also there will be Pizza afterwards for those who help out! It s that time of year again for one of ULKC's most loved trips - LAHINCH. Taking place at the end of week 3 or the weekend of Friday 28th September. This trip is open to everyone including beginners. You are 110% guaranteed a great weekend where you'll make loads of ends, get a taste of some surf kayaking in one of Ireland's top surfing beaches, daycent banter and sure you might even get the shift, who knows. JUST GO, you won't regret it.
We ll be starting taking sign ups at the pool this week . The total cost is €35 . Payments must be made by cash only. Talk to Amy Dermody if you've any issues regarding payment. This trip is for members only so make sure you have paid your membership!! (this can be done at any of our pool sessions)
Included in your €35 is; transport, accommodation, all necessary kayaking gear and some food (breakfast & dinner Saturday and breakfast Sunday)
We'll be leaving the UL boathouse at 6pm Friday 28th September and returning to UL in the evening of Sunday 1st October.

We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting a charity fun day in aid of Limerick Marine Search and Rescue on Sunday the 25th of September.
We will have try a kayak and SUP sessions running every hour, and hoverball archery and water walking zorbs running from Limerick Boat Club and we will also have Ireland's tallest mobile climbing wall over on Harveys Quay.
All activities will be free and will operate on a first come first served basis.
We will have collections buckets at all the activities and hope you can give generously to such a worthy cause.
