We are introducing an OPC Fresher Review so you can get a feel of what the club is like from someone who has never participated before. Hear what Ernest Cullinane had to say about some of our activities last week!

Hiking: Main point of joining the club was for the weekend hikes and it didn't disappoint. It's an amazing way to see rural Ireland while making new friends from across Europe and beyond. The hiking pace is suitable for everyone and the hiking leaders are helpful and talkative. I thought the extra equipment they brought such as hats and nice touch for those who forgot to bring stuff. Overall this activity is not to be missed as it's one of the highlights of the Club

Climbing: Joining the club grants free access to the UL Climbing Wall which of course is fantastic. I came to my first session with no previous experience. The gear was provided and we were taught how to tie in properly by the amazing Climbing team. I would recommend given it a go as it's enjoyable, fun and a good way to get in daily exercise.

Orienteering: While this was not the reason I joined the club and decided to give it a try. At the first session we did a basic course and discussed the sport. I found this helpful as I hadn't previously done much orienteering. Nonetheless as we commenced the course I quickly got to grip with the basics while meeting new people. I enjoyed it and will be doing more in the future
