Novas is a homeless charity, it is the largest provider of housing in the mid west. Novas also provides a range of services from rehabilitation to family support through our food poverty campaign, Novas works with the most vulnerable in our society. The UL Novas society gives members a unique opportunity as Novas is an independent charity this entail that real training is provided when volunteering as well as gaining great work experience(handy for co-op), it gives students a chance to get out of the sheltered environment in the university and gain real life experience. Above all else this society provides students with an opportunity to give back to wider community and really make a difference. There are a variety of roles available to members of novas, the soup run/food van this entail following behind a food van and handing food and talking to the homeless. Our buddy program is also available to students this is where a member is paired up with a service user who has now be given a home and is being eased back to society, service users are often discriminated against and isolated. Drivers are also frequently required for a range of services . Due to the diversity of novas's services volunteers are always required so volunteering is fully flexible 364 days of the year. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and we can get you involved somehow. So if you have an interest in getting trained, gaining experience and helping others come join our team today
