Mathilde Sandahl, the founder of the NGO Pangea, Prague will be speaking to us about homocolonialism and western politics. 

We will watch the virgin suicides and give a feminist critique. There will be food and a game of kahoot!!

We are holding our annual general meeting to officially elect this years committee. We hope to see all of our core members there.

This event is a collaboration with the History Society, covering some notable women and their contributions to Irish history. The talk will be given by our own Charlotte Batzer along with members of the History Society. The talk will be followed by a general conversation about women and other minorities that have been written out of our history books.

A talk on the menstrual cycle and connecting with our bodies, held by PhD student Eimear Stewart. She has facilitated the Red Tent in East Clare, which is a space for women to connect and share their experiences with their cycles and everyday life.

Join us to celebrate International Women's Day/ Week with a joint collaboration with Music Society to raise funds for Rape Crisis Midwest in Scholars on campus @9pm. Free entry, donations appreciated. 

The panel will bring together societies who represent a variety of fields across the university to exchange ideas and share their perspectives on sustainability.

Join us for a stand out on International Women's Day against male violence towards women and gender non-conforming folk, racism and transphobia. Our president Katelyn O' Regan amongst many others will be speaking out against racism, sexism and xenophobia. 

Our next fantastic speaker. We reached out to Cian after watching his part in Vicky Phelans documentary. We are so excited to have him speak on this topic as it affects us all in different ways.

In order to get a true understanding of what students want to see UL do in terms of sustainability, we are teaming with Sustainability UL for a Brainstorming session.

The session, which can be counted toward students’ President’s Volunteer Awards, will look at ways for UL to become a more sustainable university for students, and to examine new possibilities and opportunities for student engagement in the area, especially through femsoc!

Laura is talking about the proposed referendum of article 41.2 of the Constitution. This article references women place in the home.

We are holding a vigil for all trans people who have lost their lives to transphobia and bad legislation etc. We will have tea lights and urge people to bring posters. There will be singers, speakers and poets. 

Una is talking about the position of women giving guarantees for commercial loans for their partners! 

We have the amazing Jennifer Schweppe giving a talk on Irish hate crime legislation, an area in which she is an expertise! We hope everyone is excited - this is the first event of our Feb Law series.

We are so excited for our first social night this semester! We will be meeting at stables at 7 and getting the 310 over to Roller Jam. It is 10 euro per person and please bring your student ID. Hope everyone can make it.

 On Wednesday, February 1st @ 1pm, the documentary "Vicky" by Vicky Phelan will be shown in the common area of Student Life. Entry will be free, but we kindly ask that you make a donation of €2 and purchase some of the available snacks, since all proceeds will go directly to 221+ who are an amazing charity dedicated to cervical cancer research.

Join us this week as Erasmus student Lorna will be talking about her experience of being a member of the 'Lets talk about sex' campaign back in the Netherlands. Having been part of the Feminist network back home, she will give us an insight into her previous work in feminism!

We’re having a vigil in conjunction with the stand festival. The theme is gender justice. We have an amazing range of speakers including Mamobo Ogoro the founder of gorm media, Clodagh Guerin the founder of Any time of the month, Cllr Elisa O Donovan and more! We’ll be handing out candles and have some posters too.

Hi all! We are holding a table quiz in the Pavilion at 8pm on Wednesday the 12th of October. The prizes are to be announced on our Instagram in the coming week! Teams of four would be best for this event and the cost of entry of 10 euro a head can be paid on the night.

International Women's Day! Coffee morning with WiSTEM2D in Scholars. There will be vouchers available for free tea/coffee and a treat. This is a great chance for our members to mingle with other societies and celebrate women. Join us for a great way to kick off your IWD 2022!

Femsoc are taking a trip to jump lanes! Fun members activity to relieve a bit of stress. We’ll be meeting at 5.30 at the stables bus stop and heading out to Jump Lanes for 6. You must have socks with you and no jeans or denim is allowed at jump lanes! It’ll be €10 when we get there and a max of 15 people can attend. Excited to see ye all!

Femsoc is delighted to welcome the wonderful past president Edana Flynn who is now working with planned parenthood for a zoom conference for this weeks meeting! 

Edana is incredibly knowledgeable about reproductive rights and fought fiercely throughout the Repeal campaign. She is now working with planned parenthood to fight for reproductive healthcare and rights in the States.

We will be holding the talk through zoom on 20/10 at 7pm. The link will be sent out to all members through email before hand, so make sure to sign up through wolves if you haven’t already!

Masks are to be worn at all times when travelling to crew and outdoor seating has been organised!

Feminist Society are going Global! We're doing a live Instagram with UL Global and one of our former international members, to answer questions about her time studying at UL and being a part of FemSoc

Women's Aid, a national domestic abuse charity's, #TooIntoYou Campaign was launched back in October. The #TooIntoYou campaign is a public awareness campaign highlighting dating abuse and 'red flags' in relationships. It aims to raise awareness, especially among younger people, of dating abuse and to educate people on how to protect themselves and get help. FemSoc is holding an information workshop on the campaign to help spread awareness. Although the campaign focuses primarily on young women, we recognise that dating abuse can happen to anyone in any type of romantic relationship. All are welcome. As always our HSO will be on hand if anyone is affected by the subject of the session, and information about how to access support will be distributed. 

We will be at the Clubs and Societies Recruitment drive on Wednesday the 12th of September. If you are looking to get involved with the society or just wanna find out more about us make sure to pop by and say hi!

UL Fem Soc, in collaboration with Social Democrats and Young Fine Gael, is organizing an interactive talk with three female politicians about their first-hand experience campaigning as women. Everyone is invited to this amaizing event that will be hosted in the Pavilion on Monday April 11th. Also finger food will be served! Spread the word and come along!!!!
