"Behavioural Economics & Decision Making" featuring: Professor Liam Delaney
21st of February @ 6:30 pm in the Kemmy Business School.
Liam Delaney is Professor of Economics at UCD and Visiting Professor of Economics at Stirling University.
He has worked at the intersection of economics and psychology for his career and has published widely in both economics and psychology journals.
He is particularly interested in the measurement foundations of behavioural welfare economics and has built several interdisciplinary projects examining how to measure real-world economic preferences. He is currently developing a major new centre for behavioural science and public policy at UCD Geary Institute.
The event offers the opportunity to learn about an alternative perspective about economics and one that should be of interest for everyone!

"Forecasting the Irish Economy" - A Central Bank perspective featuring guest speaker Stephen Byrne.
Stephen will give an overview of the Irish economy at present from the perspective of the forecasting division in the Irish Central Bank and also an insight into his own research, in particular the broader measures of slack in the economy, potential impact of non tariff barriers on trade and some other issues. He will also speak about what it is like to work in the Central Bank and thoughts for people considering a career along those lines.

Aim is to provide students with an insight into the Futures in Finance and also help students with meticulous graduate program application process which faces students when beginning their career. The Futures in Finance segment seeks to outline the different sectors in financial services as it is a broad field with many different avenues to pursue. The workshop is focused on applying to accountancy firms and will go through the dreaded application form process in detail and how best to fill them in.
This event will be delivered by Sinead English, a lecturer in Career Development and Finance in UL’s Kemmy Business School. Sinead is also a career management and networking specialist. She guides clients through each stage of the career planning, job hunting and job securing process. She also spent 13 years working in Investment Banking in London, with significant experience gained in JP Morgan and Chase Manhattan.

Tuesday 25th of September sees the launch of the Bank of Irelands FX Trade Off Competition. This exciting trading competition offers participants the opportunity to learn grassroots trading techniques with the incentive of generous prizes, with top place receiving €1500 cash + Summer Internship in Bank of Ireland Global Markets.
Registration for the competition opens tomorrow, Monday 17th of September.
The Bank of Ireland on campus in UL will host a launch night on Tuesday 25th of September.
Students who attend launch nights will be given priority. Make sure to attend your university’s launch night to get priority for a place in the competition.
The competition will then begin on the 5th of October. We encourage as many interested society members to actively participate in the competition as possible!!
