Queerbash is Out in UL’s largest showcase event. It wasd in 2004 by Paddy McHugh as a way of bringing the queer scene in Limerick and the wider community together. He decided to take the terms queer and bash and push for them to become something we can say in a positive way. The event has helped the queer community to reclaim those words, feel empowered, and adopt a sense of unity. Paddy McHugh aimed for the event to bring together the whole student community of UL, no matter where you fell in the LGBTQ+ acronym.

OutinUL is the University of Limerick's LGBTQIA+ society which acts as a safe place for students to make friends and be their true authentic selves, discover who they are, or even support their LGBTQIA+ friends.

This year our theme is Rainbow Revival. So whether you want to get your gay on, you’re a friend of Dorothy, or your heart belongs "somewhere over the rainbow" join us for a night you won’t forget.

Featuring a live performance by acts from UL's Music Society, a DJ and a set of amazing queens, including a cameo from our Alternative Mx. UL winner from last year, we will have plenty of entertainment to help you forget about the upcoming exam stress for one night!

While this year may not be as grand as the previous years, we still intend to make it a night worth remembering, so book your ticket quickly to ensure you don’t miss out on the most fabulous event of the year!

This queer hangouts will be an extended version of our usually scheduled event. it will be longer than usual and we will also be varying between several games rather than just one

A workshop in collaboration with Femsoc about Intersectional feminism and how it relates to lgbt people

On the first night of Rainbow week, we will be opening with a Kahoot Quiz after our members meeting. Members will be quizzed on lgbt topics such as; Terminology, history, literature, celebrities and more.

The most fabulous night of the year is back!

Queerbash is a celebration of all things queer on our wonderful campus - a night to fully embrace your identity and be whoever you want to be. The event was founded to turn violence against LGBTQ+ people into something positive by showcasing the pride we have in our community!

This year's theme is 'Into the Woods' - so step out of the closet and join us in our Enchanted Forest! Dressing up is very much appreciated and there will even be a competition for the best costume, so don't hold back! It'll be a night full of magic, wonder and some fabulous Queens...

Queerbash 17 takes place in Dolan's Warehouse on March 25th with doors opening at 9 pm. Tickets will be €10 on the door or €8 if you buy them in advance (check out our social media for more info).

We have worked out an absolutely fabulous program for you - there will be music by the Limerick-based band 'Lost Boys' and Padraic Di Fusco, a number of superb drag acts and a DJ as well as some amazing performances from UL Cheer, Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre!

Out in UL will also be announcing this year's Queerbash theme on the night, you won't want to miss it!

This will be a fun social evening for new and old members to get to know each other.  Come along and chill with us, we will be playing board games, chatting, playing music... did we mention there will be snacks (and pizza!)!

A candle lit vigil will be held to commemorate the transgender people who have died due to transphobia in the past year.

After the vigil, we will be hosting tea and coffee in the den. All are welcome to stand in solidarity with the trans community

We have been busy planning this all semester, so come along and celebrate the diversity on campus and have a fabulous week with us! 

Friday 8th of November we're going to have a chill Rainbow Week activity in collaboration with Tea Society! We'll be relaxing in ULSL Room 3 from 12 pm - 2 pm with (you guessed it) TEA!! So come along and take a break from the busy Rainbow Week activities and enjoy a nice cuppa and maybe a few biscuits!

Thursday the 7th of November is Rainbow Week's Big Night Out! For only €7 you can buy a ticket in Red Raisins from 12 pm - 3 pm on Wednesday the 30th of October. The ticket gets you free entry into RollerJam as well as some pizza once we're inside! We're meeting up outside the Stables Bus Stop at 6:15 pm To hop on the bus to get to RollerJam in plenty of time. 

After RollerJam we're going to have part two of the Big Night Out with a fun social night! This is separate from RollerJam and is not included in the ticket.  

Queer Hangouts is a fun time to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday college life! So come on down to the ULSL Den from 1 pm - 3 pm on Thursday 7th for a chill time of games, biscuits and tea! 

As part of Rainbow Week and in collaboration with Campus Life services we are doing a showing of the French film The Shiny Shrimp. The film starts at 7 pm in the Dromroe Seminar Room. Snacks and pizza will be provided. 

The Shiny Shrimp is about Mathias Le Goff, vice-world swimming champion, who after making homophobic remarks is sent to coach a gay water polo team who seem to care more about partying than about the competition.

UL's one and only drag competition extravaganza, AMUL, is back and bigger than ever! Whether you have no drag experience and want to test the waters, or are a renowned (amateur) queen we want to hear from you! We are looking for 6 fabulous Drag queens, kings, feaux queens etc. To Lip Sync for their lives...and the crown, on November 5th!

If performing isn't for you, not to worry, our talented queens will need an incredible audience to support them in their fight for the crown! Whether you're a drag race veteran or have never experienced drag before, this dragtastic night of drama and death drops is not to be missed! Tickets will be on sale from Out in UL Committee weeks 8 and 9, as well as on the door!

In preparation for AMUL, we are holding a workshop on drag makeup!! Former AMUL contestants Abraham Blake (Ms. Betty Swallows) and Sarah Hogan (last year's winner, Ms. Sarah Tonin) will be giving a crash course on the ways drag queens and kings use makeup specifically and the ways it differs from regular makeup use, so come along!!

After our Members Meeting we will be heading over to the Student Life Centre to hold a Kahoot Quiz!! We'll be asking questions via the Kahoot app in different categories related to the LGBT community, such as music and celebrities! Come along and test your knowledge!! 

Kicking off Rainbow Week, we are having an Identity Canvas and Rainbow Bounce in the courtyard!! We'll have a canvas and some paint, and you can paint it with whatever colour represents your identity! We will be there from 12pm – 4pm and we will be holding onto the finished canvas afterwards, so leave your mark! While that is going on, Trampoline Club will be doing a Rainbow Bounce!! Like with all our events, tickets for AMUL (€5) and for the Big Night Out (€7) will be available for purchase. So come along and get the week off to a flying start! 

Happy Spooky Week!! Are you ready to put on those detective glasses and figure out who the murderer is at our annual murder mystery party? Was it the butler? The nanny? The drag queen? The dog? You must figure out who is to blame! Will you make the right choice?

We are hosting a bake sale to raise money for this year's ULSL chosen charities, Pieta House and Limerick Marine Search and Rescue! These are both really important charities who save lives, so help us support them by stopping by, saying hi, and buying a bun, brownie, cookie, cake, whatever you fancy, we've got it (maybe ... hopefully!)!

We are co-hosting a Trans 101 Workshop with UL Feminist Society and Mx. Alena Kiel (LGBTQ+ student council rep).  Come along to learn all about the Trans* umbrella, gender identity and Expression, trans healthcare, how to be a good Ally to your trans friends and more... 

It promises to be an interesting, interactive workshop in a friendly, open environment, so do join us, everyone is welcome.  

We are hosting our first Big Night in  of the semester in Cappavilla Commonroom in collaboration with campus life services.

This event will be open to all our members and everyone living on campus, all are welcome!

It will be a fun, chill evening, with board games such as werewolf, cards against humanity, uno, etc. And if all that wasn't enough to entice you there will be snacks and pizza on the night!

Out in UL's annual drag competition Alternative Miss UL, which is now in its seventh year will be taking place in Scholar's at 8:30pm. Watch as a host of amaetur kings and queens and faux kings/queens battle it out to be crowned UL's fiercest shade-thrower and spiller of tea. Witness an army of brand new drag disasters take to the stage to lipsync for their lives!    

In Week 10 (7th-11th November), Out in UL will hold its sixth annual Rainbow Week! This exciting and vibrant week is a celebration and showcase of UL's LGBTQ+ community and we have a really exciting lineup for this year's Rainbow Week, including workshops, interactive courtyard events, a "Past, Present and Future" showcase, the Stigma mental health event with UL Drama Society and, of course, our Big Night Out! We hope to see you all loads during this wonderful week!

On Thursday night 10th November in Strokers Gay bar, we will be holding our Big Night Out. Doors will be opening at 9pm and we'll be going until late. On the night we will have a live DJ, live music and the night will be hosted by UL's very own Drag King; Notorious K.I.D! Admission to the event is &euro 3.

On Tuesday 8th November at 1pm in SU Room 3, we will be holding a Gender Spectrum Workshop with GOSHH! GOSHH (Gender, Orientation, Sexual Health, & HIV) are a charity based in Limerick who work in the areas of sexual health and LGBTQ+ issues, and we have worked with them extensively in the past, including our collaboration with our recent HIV Rapid Testing Campaign! This time, they are joining us to give a workshop on gender variance as a part of Rainbow Week!

Out in UL's first evening event for Rainbow Week will be our new "Past, Present, Future" event on Monday 7th November! From 7:30pm in Scholars, we will be giving our members and friends a chance to connect with the past of the society, reflect on how far we have come and talk about our future.

Drama Society & OutinUL are teaming up for a quiz all about Disney movies along with a karaoke night. There will be teams of four, €5 for person and the top prizes are sponsored by Disney.

ShoutOut is an organisation that gives workshops about queerphobic bullying in secondary schools. This event is a training night for ShoutOut volunteers.

As part of Societies of UL Week (SoUL Week), Out in UL is holding a remembrance ceremony for the victims of the Pulse shooting in Orlando. At 7pm on Tuesday 25th October we will gather in the Main Plaza - in front of the Main Building's "ski slopes" - to remember one of the worst tragedies in our community's history. We are going to have a few individuals speak about how the tragedy impacted upon them and it looks to be an amazing evening of solidarity.

Out in UL have teamed up with the Students Union and GOSHH (Gender Orientation Sexual Health HIV) to provide a day long service of free rapid HIV testing to all students and staff as part of this year's SHAG week!

HIV is on the rise in Ireland with 2015 seeing more new cases than any other year since the early 2000s. 
While men who have sex with men is still the largest subgroup in which newly infected cases are seen, both heterosexual males and females in particular make up nearly a quarter of those newly diagnosed. 
Many people living with HIV don't even know it.

Our friends at GOSHH are offering free rapid HIV tests for anyone who wants to avail themselves of it in UL on thursday October 13th. Tests take just a few minutes and consist of drawing a small droplet of blood from your finger.

One of Out in UL's biggest events, Queerbash is in its thirteenth year! This year, the queers are going to the circus! We encourage you guys to come along to Dolan's on Friday April 15th and dress up as anything circus-y (within reason!) for CIRQUE DU QUEERBASH! The one and only Notorious K.I.D. will be your host for the night, and our other fabulous performers include up-and-coming Limerick band Cosmic Humans, as well as UL Drama Society and Dance UL, with the Circus Society providing all the circus authenticity you could hope for. It is set to be an absolutely fabulous event! All are welcome, tickets are €10 and sold at the door on the night. (R.O.A.R.)
