It’s with great excitement and pleasure that the University of Limerick GAA Club welcomes you to both the University of Limerick and more specifically, the UL GAA Club. Please read this email carefully as it contains a lot of information you will be required to know for the season ahead!

We support all levels of participation, from Fresher to Senior grades. Please note that while we offer various levels of play, we currently do not have a complete beginner’s team.

Whether you're here to enjoy the sport or compete at the elite level, UL GAA will provide you the platform to shine in top-tier competitions like the Fitzgibbon Cup, Sigerson Cup, Ashbourne Cup, and O’Connor Cup.

To take part in team trials and get involved this season, please register for the relevant events through the UL Wolves system.

Some important info to note:

·         You must be a member to trail, train or play

·         You must book online to trial or train

Events will go live on the system today at 1pm, so don’t miss the chance to book your place as its first come first served. We will have trials for 3 weeks across all teams so everyone should have ample opportunity.

Please note Fitzgibbon 1&2 will begin trials in week 3!

Training & Club Communication

Teams usually train twice a week, or train once and play 1 game per week on the grass pitches or 4G pitches at Maguire’s and North Campus.

GAA Schedule for Week 4. All events to be joined under my listings! Limited availability for trials. If you cannot make trials this week there will be more next week 5.

1: Register with UL GAA Club. This includes filling in all your info and paying your €25 registration fee.

2: Make sure you are signed up to receive club emails. I send a schedule of activity on Fridays for the following week and if you do not have the box ticket to receive these then you will not know what's going on

3: Check your email over the weekend so you know what, when and where the activity is on that you wish to attend

4: We have to control the numbers attending trials. This is done by creating events. You can sign up to attend a trials under "my listings" on wolves. Only people who sign up to the event may attend. If you cannot sign up, this trial may be full. If you are injured/unable to trial there is no need to sign up to the event. Just show up  and meet management. If you had intended to go but for whatever reason cannot attend, please de-register so someone else can join. If you cannot attend but are interested in being involved you should contact the management

Sign up for fresher hurling, football, ladies football and camogie will take place next today in the student life courtyard from 4pm-6pm. Come down to find out about trials, training and all things UL GAA! Spread the word! Non fresher who have not yet signed up also welcome!

To all freshers who have signed up, welcome to UL GAA! 

We are a vibrant club, and we thank you for signing up and taking a step into the unknown! 

If you have not done so, make sure you are fully registered and have signed up to receive club emails. You know you are fully registered as you would have received a receipt and information automatically once you are accepted (depending on the time of day you will be accepted straight away once pending or it may take some time if done outside of office hours). If you delay registration or do not register you will not be eligible to play and not know what is going on.

The GAA club communicates with its members via email, so it is important that you sign up to receive club emails in your preferences and check them regularly. I email a schedule with all the important information on trials and trainings etc. for the week ahead on Friday evenings.

College week 3 is the first week for freshers so ye are not expected to attend any session. Fresher trials and trainings for all codes will start from week 4.

Welcome UL GAA Members!

Welcome to UL GAA! We had 1,200 members last year and more than 18 teams. We hope to increase that number this year.

How do I join?

 Register online on ulwolves.ie and select GAA. Fill in the details and pay your €25 registration fee. Make sure you opt in to receiving emails from the GAA club, as this is how we will contact you about trials, trainings etc, at least until you are selected for a team.

I don’t know what team/trial I am supposed to go to

I send a weekly email (usually Friday evenings) that informs all members of the schedule for the following week and directions for players. Read this carefully and you will know where to go and what to do

My membership is “pending”

Either you have not paid the registration fee, or you have paid, and we are in the process of signing you up.

I haven’t played in a long time/Am not very good….

We have a coaching block in Gaelic football for international students for the next 4 Thursdays from 5pm-6pm on Maguires. If you are a beginner, then you are more than welcome to join this. We hope to do the same in semester 2. You can also train with either Junior hurling or junior football as this is open training. Please note however that there is no absolute beginner team.

I am in the middle of club activity/am injured right now

I will make a list of these players. Its still important to register early so management have access to your details. Attend trials and introduce yourself to management and exchange contact details. If you are showing a genuine interest, then you will be given a chance.
