Learn to Row Programme

Location: UL Boathouse

The Learn to Row Programme is aimed at those in UL for a semester who want to learn how to row; participants will learn the basics of the sport using the rowing machines before starting to row on the water. These sessions are suitable for complete beginners, no need to have any experience rowing! All participants will be invited to compete at the Provincial Indoor Rowing Championships this November with UL Rowing Club.

Online Strength and Conditioning

Location: Zoom Meeting

Coaches Frank Nugent and Conor Igoe will be hosting Zoom strength and conditioning sessions four times a week. 

It is really important that athletes attend to get the correct technique and form throughout the session.  This is pivotal in preventing injury and allowing for correct recovery. 

This is part of the current high volume section of training, lots of weights and long erg sessions, before easing back into pieces and sprints.

All new rowers are welcome to come down to try rowing on Tuesday/Thursday from week 2 onwards from either 5 - 6 or 6 - 7; you must be registered on UL Wolves to partake. Looking forward to seeing everyone down there!

Novice Rowing Programme (Tuesdays)

The Novice Rowing Programme is suitable for complete beginners to rowing who are in UL for the entire academic year. Participants will begin to learn the rowing technique on the rowing machines and in the indoor rowing tank before taking to the water to learn to row. All novice rowers will be invited to compete with UL Rowing Club at plenty of events this year, including the National Varsity Championships this April - UL Rowing Club are the reigning national champions in the Women's Novice Quad, and hope to build on this success in 2024!
